I'll be the first to admit it, my relationship with God hasn't been nearly as solid as it needs to be. He is still NUMBER ONE in my life but as of right now, I don't go to church and I don't really read the Bible. Still though, He just keeps pouring blessings on my life. First and foremost...wait for it...I'M ENGAGED!!! I have to start my explanation by explaining that when i lived up north, every March, McDonnald's would sell Shamrock Shakes in honor of St. Patrick's Day. Down South, they don't do that. Anyway, I went up to visit him over my spring break and the first night i got there (3/10) his parents took us out for dinner at Outback Steakhouse. Anyways, we're sitting there enjoying an awesome supper and then, after the dishes from the main course were cleared, he turned to me and said this: "I have a couple questions for you. The first is, do you want a Shamrock Shake or do you want dessert here?" I sat there for a few seconds and told him that he needs to choose...he told me to think about it and while i sat there wondering whether i want the shake or a delicious sounding apple dessert, he grabs my right hand (he's sitting on my right) and says "well, the other question is, will you marry me?" I was absolutely speechless and when i did manage to squeek out a "yes" we hugged. His mom and dad took pictures and were so happy for us...they were immediately like "welcome to the family...you and abbie are now our family...we love you." It was absolutely amazing!!! Secondly: rent has always been a source of worry for me. I get social security and about 90% of that goes just to rent. Well, Thanks to a couple friends, i learned of a place here called Independence Manner. It's a complex for disabled and elderly people. I went in and got an application and that very evening, dispite the 6 month waiting list, the manager called and told me that i still need to do the paperwork but basically, the place is mine. I went in this morning to give her the papers and get this: my rent went from $500 to $94 a month! I am so thankful to the Lord for these blessings and for always keeping me in the palm of his hand. Have a great night y'all! d |
